Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. and is a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. In Washington the following year, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News a year later. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter at NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has appeared at times on TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She was on the panel for 1988's presidential debates, in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was the former chairman for Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, it was the year that Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell worked in news from the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a broad range of important stories, including the Iran-contra controversy and tax reform. She traveled alongside Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to international summits, and also reported frequently.
